WHAT DOES THE AGC DO?

WHAT DOES THE AGC DO?

  • Oversee the implementation of the Alianza Charter (available on the school website) by advising the Principal, providing feedback, suggestions and advocacy.  The Principal is the school leader.  He is governed by the PVUSD School Board via the Superintendent. Principal will implement decision of the AGC unless it is conflict with rules and directives of the Superintendent.
 
  • Oversee the School Improvement Plan (development and implementation) PVUSD has approved 6 improvement goals. Schools must implement the first two and select a third from the remaining goals. Alianza’s current goals are:
 
1. Increase Academic Achievement

2. Increase the number of English Learners reclassifying to Fluent English Proficient

3. Increase school safety

4. Oversee the school budget and approve expenditures for categorical funds some LEP funds and all school raised funds.

WHAT ARE THE COUNCIL POSITIONS AND THEIR RESPONSIBILITIES?

PRESIDENT

Conduct monthly council meetings, set the agenda for meetings with the principal and cast a vote for issues raised during meetings.
 
 

SECRETARY

Take minutes (notes) during meeting, type, translate and provide minutes for following meeting.
   
 

TREASURER

Report on transactions and account balances each meeting, sign checks, prepare deposit slips and make deposits at bank. Coordinate with Juanita for all paperwork. Coordinate with Parents of Armadillo’s Club for the student body fund (from fundraising).
  
 

MIGRANT PROGRAM REPRESENTATIVE

Represent and advocate for the needs of students enrolled in the migrant program and their families.
  
 

PARENTS OF ENGLISH LEARNERS (EL) REPRESENTATIVE

Represent and advocate for the needs of EL students and their families.
 
 

PARENTS OF SPANISH LEARNERS (SL) REPRESENTATIVE

Represent and advocate for the needs of SL students and their families.
 
 

DISTRICT ENGLISH LEARNER ADVISORY COMMITTEE (DELAC) REPRESENTATIVE

Represent and advocate for the needs of EL students and represent Alianza at district ELAC monthly meetings.
  
 

PARENT’S INTERMEDIATE PROGRAM REPRESENTATIVE

Represent and advocate for the needs of students in the 7th and 8th grade and their families.
  
 

PARENTS OF ARMADILLOS (PAC) REPRESENTATIVE

Elected as the president of PAC. Prepare report on PAC activities in fund raising for enrichment and school beautification.
